Harlequin slices made on a baking sheet - the best dessert to have with your afternoon coffee

Harlequin slices are great for celebrations, birthdays, holidays or just when you feel like having something special with your afternoon coffee. It reminds me of the comic character of the harlequin with its checkerboard pattern and brightly colored cubes. This reflects the versatility and richness of flavors of this dessert. The harlequin slices are a great addition to any celebration, special occasion or gathering. It is a dessert that can be served as a nice looking and tasty treat to any meal.

  1. Beat the eggs with sugar until stiff, add flour mixed with baking powder and cocoa. Layer the prepared dough on a baking sheet that you have greased and sprinkled with flour. Bake at a temperature of 355 °F / 180 °C for about 20 minutes - keep an eye on it.
  2. After baking, leave to cool.
  3. Let the whipping cream boil the day before making this cake. Let it cool and put it in the fridge, preferably overnight. Then beat it together with sugar.
  4. Add cocoa and sugar to the second whipping cream. Beat until stiff.
  5. Put the whipped white and brown whipped cream into a pastry bag and alternately spray it on the baked dough. I used a decorative star tip.
  6. Leave to harden in the refrigerator and cut into triangles.

*TIP: If you want to bake the cake in one day, I recommend using either vegan (vegetable-based) whipping cream, which holds firm even without stabilizer, or choose regular whipping cream, to which you add stabilizer according to the instructions.
