Grandma's classic - Excellent apple pie

Excellent and totally moist apple pie according to my grandmother's recipe. Now I'm a grandmother myself and I really like to bake my own favorite cakes for my grandchildren, which I remember from my childhood.

3 cups
1 ¼ cups
powdered sugar
8 oz
2 pcs
egg yolk
2 ½ tsp
baking powder


2 lbs
grated apples
¾ cup
granulated sugar
1 pack
vanilla sugar
ground cinnamon

For the top:

powdered sugar
vanilla sugar
Preparation steps
  1. Dough: mix flour with baking powder, sift, add butter, egg yolks, powdered sugar and make a smooth dough.
  2. Divide in half. Roll out one half on a floured rolling pin to the size of a baking sheet, put the dough on the edges as well.
  3. Layer the prepared apples. Cover with the other half of the dough.
  4. Wash with milk, pierce with a fork and bake. Sheet size approx. 12x16 in'. Temperature 355 °F / 180 °C for 30 minutes or as needed.
  5. Filling: grate the apples on a coarse grater, put it aside for a while, drain the juice, add sugar, vanilla sugar and ground cinnamon to taste.
  6. After baking, sprinkle with powdered sugar and vanilla sugar. Let it cool, cut and serve. Enjoy!
