First, prepare the yeast: add sugar, instant dry yeast and a spoonful of flour to lukewarm milk and let it rest for 15 minutes.
Mix flour with salt, vanilla sugar, softened butter, yeast, egg yolks and rum and make a smooth dough.
Sprinkle with flour, cover with a towel and leave to rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours.
Roll out the risen dough into a 1/4 inch pancake and cut out circles with a glass. Let them rise for another 15 minutes. Then put in hot oil and fry until golden on both sides.
Decorate with homemade (or bought) jam and whipped cream.
