This is one of the better desserts when it comes to gingerbread. I've made walnut, apple, pear gingerbread before, but this one is really luxurious. Grated apple adds juiciness, ground poppy seeds give it a full flavor, and raisins add perfection.

Delicious apple gingerbread with ground poppy seeds

  1. Beat the eggs with the sugar until stiff. Then add milk, oil and finally a loose mixture - flour mixed with baking powder, cocoa, poppy seeds. At the very end, add grated apples (I grated them on a coarse grater without the peel) and a handful of raisins.
  2. Pour the prepared dough onto a greased and floured baking sheet (I use butter for greasing and flour to prevent the dough from sticking). Smooth it nicely.
  3. Bake in a preheated oven at a temperature of 355 °F / 180 °C for about 25 minutes - keep an eye on it.
  4. Spread the still hot cake with apricot jam and cover the top with chocolate glaze. I prepared the chocolate glaze by heating the whipping cream and then I added the chocolate broken into pieces, which I melted by stirring.
