Fantastic poppy seed bun

Recently, a video recipe for a kind of creamy poppy seed cake appeared on the Internet, which, even though I bake a lot, caught my attention with its unusual procedure and, above all, with its incredible result. Simply put, I "stared" at it like a calf at a new gate. And then I baked it! And just to really just pour the batter onto the baking sheet, no cream is spread, everything separates itself in some mysterious way during baking to form a layered cake.

Preparation steps
  1. In a bowl, thoroughly beat the egg yolks with the powdered sugar with a hand electric mixer into a thick white foam. Then, while constantly whisking, pour in the cooled melted butter in a slow stream and whisk again for at least another 5 minutes. Then just mix in the mixture of flour and ground poppy seeds with a wooden spoon, add milk and finally mix in the egg whites, beaten with a pinch of salt.
  2. Mix into a smooth, but very, very thin batter, which you pour into a smaller, deep baking mold (approx. 10x8 in'), the bottom of which you have lined with baking paper (I preferred to grease the edges with butter) and bake at 340 °F / 170 °C for about 60 minutes.
  3. Allow the finished dessert to cool thoroughly before serving, turn it out onto a tray, remove the baking paper and turn it onto another tray.
    And now - surprise, surprise! After cutting, you will be really surprised and you will literally not believe your own eyes.
  4. Note: The bun is really only slightly sweet, so those who like sweets can add sugar.
