Let's prepare the dough (you can also use puff pastry). Cut the butter into small cubes (or grate it on a coarse grater if it is not at room temperature), add flour, salt and sugar. Gradually add water and mix it into a smooth dough, which you will need to put in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.
Roll out the dough to a thickness of approx. 1/4 in, put the ham on it, layer the grated cheese (you can use other ingredients to taste - corn, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms,...) and roll up on both sides. Cut pieces approx. 2-3 inches wide and place them on a paper-lined baking sheet.
