The flowers are mainly collected from the whole plant, just before they bloom. It is dried in bundles in a dark, dry and warm place.

In the kitchen, not only flowers are used, but also leaves. In small quantities, we can add them to meat, fish, they are also suitable for salads, or you can combine them with various other herbs, for example rosemary, basil, ... Lavender leaves are an integral part of Provencal spices.

Lavender tea

You can prepare a tasty tea from lavender, which has a beneficial effect against baldness, relieves muscle cramps and has a beneficial effect on rheumatic diseases. The tea has a pleasant aroma and also helps with painful periods or headaches.

To prepare the tea, we will need: 2 teaspoons of dried lavender flowers and 1 cup of hot water.

Procedure: Pour boiling water over the lavender flowers and let them infuse for 5 minutes. Then we strain the tea and drink it in small sips. We drink tea 3 times a day. Do not drink tea if you have stomach problems.

Lavender lemonade

If you don't like hot drinks, you can also prepare a lavender lemonade.

You will need: 1 cup of honey, 5 cups of water, 1 tablespoon of dried lavender, juice from 6 lemons and sprigs of lavender for decoration.

Procedure: Bring water (3 cups) to a boil and let it cool for a while. Pour this water over lavender flowers and add honey. Leave to infuse for 20 minutes and then strain the juice, add lemon juice and 2 cups of water. Allow to cool and serve with ice cubes and a slice of lemon and a sprig of lavender.

Lavender oil

Lavender oil, which is used in cosmetics, is also well known. It regenerates a tired body, soothes muscle and nervous tension. It has a beneficial effect on burns and soothes the skin after sunbathing. It has anti-inflammatory effects and is also used in the treatment of eczema and fungus. You can also make lavender oil in the comfort of your own home.

To make it you will need: olive oil, dried lavender flowers (not plants, just flowers).

Procedure: Put the flowers in a glass and heat the olive oil in a pan. We need enough oil to completely cover the lavender flowers in the glass. Pour the hot oil over the flowers, cover the cup with food foil and seal with a rubber band so that the foil does not let in any air. Store the glass in a cool, dark place and let it stand for 1 month. Shake the mug every day to release the oil from lavender. After a month, open the cup, take out the flowers and press them firmly with a spoon. This is how we obtain rare lavender oil from the flowers, which we store in a resealable glass bottle.
